Empowering Youth Through Mentorship in THI Summer Youth Academy

At THI we’re committed to empowering young adults both on and off the court. Central to our Acad-emy is mentorship, which plays a crucial part in the development and growth of our participants. A mentor in our Academy serves as a guide, role model, and support system for our young athletes, offering valuable insights, advice, and encouragement to help our participants navigate the challeng-es both in basketball and life.

Α mentor can help, during the Academy, by supporting the participants in basketball skill develop-ment, personal growth as well as in life skills and goal setting. At the same time, our mentors will build meaningful connections with young athletes, creating a bond based on trust, respect, and shared goals, while making a lasting impact on the lives of young adults, influencing their personal growth and overall well-being.

We’re seeking mentors who bring together passion, patience, and positivity. An ideal mentor would bring to the Academy one or more of the following qualities:

  • Effective Inclusive and Empathetic Communication Skills

– Sharing the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately, fostering an environment where our young athletes feel heard and understood.

  • Empathy and Understanding

– Recognizing and valuing the unique experiences and challenges faced by some of our ath-letes.

  • Commitment to Personal Growth

– Fostering leadership qualities, teamwork, and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
– Encouraging resilience, perseverance, and a positive mindset in the face of challenges.

  • Awareness and Sensitivity to Diversity

– Ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants

  • Expertise in Basketball

– Providing personalized coaching and feedback to improve technical skills.
– Developing game strategies and tactics tailored to individual strengths and areas for im-provement.
